Konstantin Kovalenko, scuba instructor

About Me

I love the challenge that technical and cave diving can provide. I love exploring and going places that not many people or no one at all has gone before me. I believe in seeking out as much education as possible, always work on improving my skills and have been very lucky to be trained by the best educators in the industry.

I teach technical diving courses through Technical Diving International and International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers and open water scuba diving courses through Scuba Diving International. I am also an instructor with National Association for Cave Diving, the original cave diving training agency, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing training in the art of safe cave diving.

In 2007, I started my own scuba business, Underwater Dynamics, with the goal of providing quality open water and technical diving education in Utah, support technical diving activities in the area and to provide easy access to technical diving equipment and services. Underwater Dynamics is located right in the middle of Utah Valley, Orem, Utah and represents all major technical diving equipment manufacturers.

I love teaching all technical diving courses but Cavern and Introduction to Cave Diving are my favorite. Underwater cave environment is one of the most unforgiving and requires a very high level of skill. Dedication required to achieve that level of skill makes for a very perceptive student and teaching such person is a very rewarding experience.

In addition to educating divers and running a dive shop, I actively participate in underwater cave exploration in Utah by organizing expeditions and participating in exploration dives.

Interested in becoming a technical diver or a cave diver?

Becoming a technical diver is a journey. There are several different certification levels that are considered technical diving certifications but there is more to be a technical diver than just completing a particular course. The training will change the way you approach all of your diving, your scuba diving skills will improve dramatically and all of your scuba diving pursuits will benefit from it. Your knowledge and understanding of physics and physiology involved in diving will become much deeper, you will learn to plan and execute your dives with significant reduction of risks involved.

If you are newly certified Open Water Diver, or may be just considering becoming one, and seeing technical diving in your future, come to me. I believe in mentoring approach and can help you choose the most cost effective path for your training. I will guide you in your selection of scuba specialties and diving activities that will help you progress quicker towards fulfilling all required prerequisites for entering technical diving program. You will learn the correct techniques from the very beginning. Proper equipment is essential and I can help you to avoid the costly mistakes all of us make in the beginning of our scuba diving. I believe in providing as much information as possible and discussing the reasons behind everything we do in scuba diving, so you can make your own, educated, decisions.

Your training will not end with your course. You will always be welcome to come to me with your questions and for help.

Come see me at the shop or contact me by phone or email and we will discuss your options. I have regularly scheduled technical courses that start every month or we can come up with a custom schedule just for you.

Where can I go diving?

I can help you choose technical diving charters in and outside of the United States. There are several deep wreck diving opportunities in Utah and, if you are qualified, you are welcome to participate in our cave exploration efforts. There is a dive club in Orem, UT - Utah Nitrox and Technical Divers, sponsored by Underwater Dynamics. We meet on a monthly basis to exchange ideas, enjoy local diving, and keep our skills sharp.

Where do I get my gear?

Underwater Dynamics stocks a wide variety of technical scuba equipment and I can usually match online prices so you would loose nothing and gain professional service and support. Take an advantage of an expert advice, come and see us, get educated about what is available and how it is used or configured.
